The U.S. GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL (, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 9,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking a talented writer and editor to join the fast-paced Marketing & Communications Team and be responsible for the editorial direction of USGBC's internal and external publications, both print and online; and for maintaining and developing the USGBC ''voice'' in the marketplace.

By utilizing superior writing and editing skills to create clear and effective communications the MANAGER OF PUBLICATIONS & E-MARKETING will support USGBC's leadership in the green building industry and contribute to advancing USGBC's mission of market transformation.


•Editorial oversight and management of USGBC Web site, to include:

oManaging an intra-departmental team to ensure that content updates and additions occur in a timely manner
oManaging Web site information architecture and overall site organization
oMaintaining the consistency and clarity of the USGBC voice and message throughout the web site and related documents
oCoordinating with IT staff to support ongoing site development and upgrades

•Developing editorial calendar for, and editing and managing production of, USGBC monthly electronic newsletters with circulation of 50,000+
•Developing and implementing email blasts and email marketing campaigns
•Overseeing online search marketing campaign(s)
•Developing, writing, and editing USGBC marketing collateral in conjunction with marketing staff
•Writing and editing USGBC articles for publication in trade and mainstream press


•4+ years of related experience
•Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Journalism) or bachelor's degree plus extensive related experience
•Superior writing and editing skills; adept at writing for diverse audiences, formats, and media
•Knowledge of Web site best practices, including usability and SEM/SEO
•Microsoft Office suite, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Professional, basic knowledge of HTML
•Ability to handle multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities, both individually and as part of a team
•Familiarity with green building industry and LEED Rating System highly desirable
•Commitment to USGBC mission
