Minimum two years’ experience in public relations, marketing, media, media relations, or related field. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Well organized with attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines. Microsoft Office computer applications; experience with Adobe and Macromedia Dreamweaver programming helpful. Must be willing to develop a broad knowledge of the landscape architecture profession and its practitioners. Some travel required.

Provides critical assistance with ASLA public relations and marketing campaigns. Assists Public Relations Manager as needed with outreach to key local and regional media in national public relations campaigns.

Coordinates public relations and media outreach for ASLA chapters. Maintains the Public Relations section of the online Chapter Operations Workbook, including press release templates, media lists by state, and other resources. Writes the “Chapter Chat” column in member e-newsletter, LAND Online, about upcoming chapter events.

Ensures chapter leaders plan and promote local activities for National Landscape Architecture Month (April). Maintains the National Landscape Architecture Month web site resources and online calendar of chapter events.

Monitors media coverage of the profession and ASLA, performing supplemental online searches as needed. Manages the media monitoring vendor accounts. Assembles and distributes selected media clips to ASLA staff and chapter leaders to demonstrate coverage. Prepares “Landscape Architecture in the News” column for LAND Online.

Assists in managing the press room and activities at the Annual Meeting and works with media representatives who attend.

Provides assistance with the honors and awards program as needed, including staffing the jury meetings, regional promotion of recipients/winners, and presentations at the Annual Meeting.

Assists the Marketing Manager in planning for ASLA participation in industry trade shows. Attends trade shows as needed.

Organizes and maintains the ASLA photo library.

Performs other duties as assigned.
