MarketWatch is looking for an aggressive reporter to join our skilled and tight-knit team in Washington, DC, who can track financial regulations and housing in the world’s richest economy. The successful candidate will have a chance to cover the year’s biggest business story with the industry’s award-winning online real estate team. Opportunities to do video and radio also exist.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Cover the Securities and Exchange Commission, attend meetings, track
regulations and other issues related to the agency
• Report on housing-related economic indicators, including housing starts, home
sales and others
• Cover housing-related policy developments in Congress and in the
administration
• Cover financial regulation-related issues in Congress

The candidate must possess at least three years of experience at a wire service or daily newspaper, covering business or politics. We need a self-starter with strong analytical skills who can wrestle with economic data, track the progress of housing bills in Congress and explain what the SEC is up to. S/he must be a proven multi-tasker who is adept at organizing and comfortable probing the corridors of power for sources and scoops. The applicant should demonstrate the ability to juggle multiple assignments on tight deadlines with minimal supervision. S/he must be able to interact easily with others and be a team player. Good spelling and grammar are extremely important. Excellent writing and communication skills required. Bachelor or equivalent degree a plus.
