We are currently seeking a smart, competitive and fast Managing Editor Multifamily Executive & Developer Magazines to join our dynamic Builder Editorial team. This is an exclusive opportunity, for you to join one of America's leading B2B media companies.

Our ideal Managing Editor Multifamily Executive & Developer Magazines will oversee the day-to-day operations of both publications (20-plus issues annually) from story conception through final proofing, including setting schedules; creating editorial calendars and enforcing deadlines; maintaining editorial quality, integrity, consistency, and efficiency; monitoring editorial workflow; copyediting and fact-checking all copy; implementing procedures to ensure that magazine planning and production operate efficiently; and assisting editor in the direction of editorial, art, and production staff. Editorial Workflow Management • Design, revise and maintain schedules to ensure steady workflow of pages for editorial, art, and production. • Traffic and track copy, photos, and layouts for all editorial pages. • Assign and supervise the work of outside contributors and freelance writers. Writing and Editing • Do second edits on all manuscripts and first edits as needed. • Copyedit for style, accuracy, and meaning. • Ensure all copy and art elements fit designated page layouts and design. • Proofread text, check corrections, and review digital files of all editorial pages prior to publication. Art, Design, and Production • Work with editor and art director to develop layouts, choose photographs, and brainstorm art ideas. • Evaluate page design and layouts. • Read boards to ensure story is packaged correctly. • Work with production manager to monitor schedule and costs.

In addition, the Managing Editor Multifamily Executive & Developer Magazines requires at least 5 years of experience as a writer or editor and 3 years of experience as a copyeditor or managing editor. Additional management experience is a plus. Proficient in Adobe InCopy CS3, Quark Xpress, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel. • Excellent editing and language skills. Familiar with AP style. • Proven multitasker. Able to organize and manage multiple responsibilities. • Able to implement new systems, projects and problem-solving measures. • Impeccable eye for detail. • High level of creativity in story and art conception. • Positive attitude, strong management skills, and a good sense of humor. • Ability to negotiate fees and terms with contributors and freelance writers. • Some familiarity with multifamily housing industry a plus, but not necessary. Bachelor’s degree in English or journalism.
