PR/Marketing Summer Intern

ASLA is seeking a smart, enthusiastic, energetic summer intern to work closely with its awards, public relations, marketing, and communications, staff. The successful candidate will:

o assist with coordination of the annual ASLA Student Awards Program;
o work with the web editor and designer to post winning student projects online for announcement in September;
o assist in production of the professional and student awards videos and presentation ceremony planning;
o research, write, and distribute press releases;
o follow up with key media to pitch stories;
o play a vital role in marketing various ASLA programs; and
o perform other duties as assigned.

This will be an exciting experience and a super resume-builder for the right candidate and may possibly qualify for college credit.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old and preferably are third or fourth year undergraduate or graduate students. Facility with email and basic Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) required. Candidates must be able to provide a valid US Passport, or a Certificate of Naturalization, or a photo ID card issued by a federal, state, or local government agency; and a Social Security Card, or a certified copy of a birth certificate issued by a state, county, or municipal authority or outlying possession of the United States bearing an official seal.

ASLA is offering a salary of $11.00 per hour and $30 per month for metro fare. The ASLA business workweek is 37.5 hours. Applicants must be available to work generally between May 15 and August 15 and the weekend of June 13-15 for the ASLA Student Awards Jury meeting (overtime will be paid as appropriate). ASLA provides an attractive, modern office environment located one block from the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro stop and the lively Chinatown neighborhood.
