National Journal Group seeks an Online Content Producer to manage the day-to-day tasks of creating and publishing a wide variety of Web content for The Hotline, an online political publication with one of Washington, D.C.'s most prestigious readerships.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Review public opinion results from national and state polls and format the data to fit the editorial and production needs of The Hotline and other National Journal Group publications
•Publish and format news summaries, polls, blogs, audio/visual files and interactive content on rolling deadlines
•Be responsible for “running” the home page throughout the day and working with our staff writers and editors to produce special reports and packages

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will possess both editorial and technical interests; we’re not looking for a writer/reporter, but having a demonstrated knowledge of editorial processes and AP style is a definite plus.

We need someone who is capable of demonstrating solid news judgment; who loves building and creating Web pages; and who understands the fine art of packaging and presenting content online.

Additional Requirements Include:

•1-2 years of professional experience in online news production
•Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential
•Proficiency in HTML and CSS
•Familiarity with Javascript, Flash programming, XML, video editing, and database management
•Understanding of basic online design principles and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, required; knowledge of Illustrator, helpful
•Good-natured, energetic team player with a positive attitude and an interest in learning
