Summary of Position Photo Researcher is responsible for coordinating photo materials and deliverable for the domestic National Geographic Channel across the publicity, marketing, creative and online departments. The Photo Researcher works closely with the departments to fulfill their specific photo needs. He/she is responsible for the acquisition of photo materials from the 3rd party production group, conducting quality control and making the deliverables available to the various departments. The Photo Researcher is responsible for all domestic Channel-specific program photos as well as non-Allocated priority joint program photos. Reporting to Photo Manager, he/she ensures National Geographic standards for the use of exceptional imagery in order to protect and further enhance the NGC brand. Responsibilities: - Managing joint programming & domestic channel programming image deliverables. - Performs quality control on all domestic and global joint programming photo deliverables. - Edits and uploads relevant photos for each program to DAM ensuring that captions and credits are included. - Works closely with departments to ensure the highest quality and most relevant photography is available. - Coordinates access to photos ensuring that each department has the same materials. - Researches supplementary photography as needed from NG Image Collection and stock agencies. - Responsible for licensing rights-managed photography and understanding rights clearance procedures. - Responsible for processing invoices. - Works closely with the Photo Manager to hire photographers as needed for on-location production shoots for the Domestic channel. Minimum Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Visual Communications, Photo Journalism, or related field. - Two to three years experience working in the photo industry, or photo operations environment and/or visual print media. Knowledge & Skill Requirements: - Working knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe programs, various file formats, Macs. - Familiarity with databases and FTP systems. - Excellent written and oral skills.
