As a Producer in the Washington bureau you will oversee the process of gathering editorial and video material for use on air. You will be expected to cover events in and around the Washington area. You will work with television news crews and reporters to cover live events in a fast paced 24-hour news environment. As a producer you will select video and sound bites. You will conduct interviews with newsmakers both over the phone, in person, and sometimes on air. Producers work on daily news packages for Special Report w/ Brit Hume and produce reporter live shots for daytime and primetime programming. Producers are expected to be able to fill positions in the newsroom responsible for making decisions that affect on air events. As a producer you should be able to take the lead on any project assigned with minimal input from others. Producers are responsible for all the logistical duties associated with the above tasks, such as arranging travel, hiring crews, studios, and/or means of transmission. Candidates should be able and willing to travel as news warrants.


Bachelors degree and 5+ years of broadcast experience
Strong editorial judgment as well as strong logistical skills
Knowledge of national politics and the DC area
The ability to work well in a fast paced and intense atmosphere
Familiarity with iNews
Flexibility to work various shifts when needed, must be available to work weekends
Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity
