The American Association of Museums is seeking a Senior Editor to write, edit, assign and manage publishing projects, including the Museum, the association’s bimonthly magazine. The Editor will effectively oversee procedures for creating, printing and distributing this magazine and other communication projects, such as annual reports, and other publications that the department produces while cultivating professional relationships with current and potential authors from all disciplines. Responsibilities: Collaborating with Marketing & Communication staff, working with subject matter experts, (internally and externally), soliciting articles, performing editorial changes, conducting research, coordinating and editing web content material, managing work and costs of freelance writers, performing administrative tasks such as registering publications for copyright and responding to inquiries, travel when necessary to conduct interviews and to the Association’s Annual Meeting, perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications: a BA degree in journalism or related field, (Masters degree preferred), minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience for a professional publication, outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, ability to work in a dynamic environment, proficiency in MS Office, knowledge of museums and the museum profession desirable, non-profit or association experience preferred.
