Government Executive magazine, an Atlantic Media publication, is seeking a staff correspondent for its print publication and its daily news Web site, GovernmentExecutive.com. We’re looking for an energetic, team-oriented person with a demonstrated ability to develop sources and write news stories on daily deadlines, blog entries and long-form magazine pieces.

We seek a journalist who can train a business writer’s eye on government—especially human resources management. Our ideal candidate is a talented, energetic reporter and graceful writer. One to two years journalism experience is required.

Primary duties include:

•Write breaking news stories (approx. 500 words) on topics of critical interest to the government’s top managers and executives.
•Write magazine features (up to 2,500 words) and pieces for our New and Analysis section on the people who make government operations work and the challenges they face.
•Develop sources and use them to uncover previously unreported stories.
•Help create new online features and tools to serve our readers.

Government Executive is a monthly business magazine serving 70,000 senior executives and managers in the federal government’s departments and agencies. It’s a must-read for the decision-makers in the largest business in the world. GovernmentExecutive.com is the premier source of daily news on the operations of government. The Web site attracts about 400,000 unique visitors per month and our flagship daily e-newsletter has more than 100,000 subscribers.

Atlantic Media Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
