The Atlantic Media Company is seeking an experienced product leader to drive the online product vision for The Sr. Product Manager will be responsible for defining, communicating, and executing a product vision that is aligned to the site mission and organizational goals. This is a highly cross function role that is responsible for gathering requirements, creating functional specifications, managing the project queue, communicating project status, and supporting edit and business initiatives. The candidate will have extensive experience developing web-based products, a strong user interface focus, knowledge of SEO best practices, and excellent project management skills. This position reports into the Vice President of Digital Strategy and Operations.

Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Articulating a product vision and defining the 12 month product roadmap
  • Managing the entire product lifecycle from concept through launch; identifying opportunities for process improvements
  • Collaborating with editorial, marketing, sales, business development, and advertising operations to determine and prioritize project requirements
  • Conducting needs assessments, competitive research, user research and market analysis
  • Documenting business and functional requirements
  • Managing usability and design efforts
  • Communicating strategy, project status, conflicts, and resource needs to executive management
  • Determining and evaluating success metrics to measure the effectiveness of product launches

Qualifications of Ideal Candidate:

  • 7+ years experience developing and managing web-based products and solutions at all stages of the lifecycle
  • Excellent project planning and management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Solid understanding of web standards, web browser capabilities, user experience, and common web technologies (AJAX, HTML, dHTML, XML and CSS)
  • Experience with publishing systems including: content management (commercial or open source), blogging (Movable Type, Word Press, Type Pad) and video
  • Familiarity with ad serving platforms, ideally DART
  • Demonstrated ability leading cross-functional teams
  • Problem solver with solid analytical and research skills
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to converse with business, editorial and technology teams
  • Candidates with experience working for media, business, or finance sites strongly preferred
  • Bachelors degree required, MBA preferred
