Social Media Marketing Manager

The New York Daily News is looking for someone who lives and breathes social media.

The Social Media Marketing Manager will create, and manage social media opportunities to develop increased awareness, and extend our reach.

The successful candidate must have strong project management experience with inter/intra department cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, relevant, and strategic initiatives in this field.

Were looking for someone to understand what our users are doing on our site, and then communicate how we can better engage with them.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Creation and execution of social media marketing and community event campaigns to drive traffic and community involvement.
-Define community purpose, strategy, and creative direction.
-Strategize and implement initiatives to improve member communication and recognition. Track community growth, performance, and participation.
-Establish, monitor, and enforce standards within the community to minimize conflict.
-Solicit, track, and report community feedback to internal departments.
-Work with cross-functional teams to determine new community features.
-Stay abreast of industry trends, particularly social marketing and community sites.
-Be the eyes and ears of our brand as if your own reputation depended on it
-Build and maintain our content distribution network by way of social media channels
-Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding our brand, report to appropriate parties.
-Conduct keyword research including cataloging and indexing target keyword phrases
-Create and update daily, weekly and monthly reports


-Bachelors degree in Marketing, PR, Business, or related field.
-2 years of directing online community initiatives is highly desired.
-Strong Project Management and proven leadership skills.
-Demonstrated ability to map out a marketing strategy and then drive that strategy proven by testing and metrics
-On top of emerging technologies and use of these to develop new programs and strategies.
-Experience with the analysis of web traffic data (Webtrends is a plus).
-Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
-Understands the power of feed marketing
-Discretion to identify threats and opportunities in user generated content
-Understands social media universe including YouTube, StumbleUpon, Facebook, Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Flickr, Forums, Twitter, Wikis, blogs, etc
-Possesses functional knowledge or some experience with HTML/CSS
-Knowledge of search engine optimization-think including basic keyword research.
-Brings to the position outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
-Ability to communicate results to management and in a fast paced environment
