- Hardware planning, installation, and configuration (HP Proliant rack-mounted servers and blades; C-class experience a definite plus). Candidates possessing knowledge of HP Onboard Administrator and Virtual Connect technology will have an added advantage.
- Responsible for Backup/Recovery functions (Veritas Netbackup 5x, 6x); including vaulting, tape libraries, disk-to-disk technologies, ESL, VTL deduplication, etc) is a must have. Primary responsibility area, accounts for ~ 30% of focus.
- Server consolidation experience required (sizing, migrations, resource utilization, etc).
- Must be familiar with Directory Services (Active Directory); group and user management, group policy, DNS, DHCP, WINS concepts, etc. Active Directory Disaster Recovery experience a plus.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (such as VMware) is a definite plus. Candidates possessing knowledge of VMware Converter Enterprise and DoubleTake migration utilities will have a distinct advantage.
- OS upgrade / patch planning and implementation experience required (Windows 2000, 2003+). Knowledge of Symantec Altiris patch management solution a definite plus.
- Engineering and administrative experience related to supporting a fault-tolerant implementation (Knowledge of RAID technologies necessary, MS clustering experience preferred, PolyServe exposure a plus).
- Working knowledge of HP storage-related utilities and tools (such as CommandView, PerfView, Storage Essentials, and Raid Manager) preferred. EVA and MSA technologies within an Enterprise environment a definite plus.
- Must be adept at identifying and eliminating performance bottlenecks and making performance-related recommendations [hardware, software, configuration], and be able to work with various teams (i.e., AD) to resolve issues.
- Disaster recovery planning, implementation, and simulation experience a definite plus.
- Must be well-versed in general systems administration; including security, change management, event monitoring (EMS), software distribution, automation strategies, troubleshooting, job scheduling, scripting, etc.
- Experience with enterprise server administrative tools such as ScriptLogic, Quest, Exchange Management tools, Systems Center Operations Manager, etc.
- Knowledge of MAC OS/10.x experiences an added plus.
- Those individuals with Enterprise Monitoring background (HP OpenView, Infrastructure, HP Systems Insight Manager, etc) will have an advantage.
- Candidate must be versed in Network requirements and concepts (Data Center technologies, TCP/IP, etc).
- Individuals possessing Citrix experience will have an added advantage.
Requirements: SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
- Must possess strong understanding of configuration management disciplines, including standardized inclusion, verification, and synchronization techniques.
- Data center planning and system migrations experience preferred.
- Ability to perform software evaluations and recommendations, as well as take on contractor/vendor management role.
- Candidate must have excellent problem determination and project planning skills.
- Must be able to create and maintain technical and conceptual documentation.
- Work with others to develop work estimates and schedule commitments.
- Provide technical expertise and support for various IT and business groups (AD, DBA, Operations, Network, etc).
- Must be experienced in developing and managing complex project plans.
- Be able to work well autonomously or as part of a team (will work closely with DBAs, Lead Messaging Engineer, Mobile Communications Engineers, vendor CEs, consultants, etc).
- Communicate accurate and timely project and issue status.


PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or degree from a Technical Institute.
- 5-7 years experience in current Wintel system environments, 3+ in Systems Administration and/or SAN Administrator role.
- Familiarity with formal system deliverables such as work plans, requirements documents, process models, test conditions and user documentation.
- Familiarity with office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Must be able to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to work well with others and take direction.
- Must be willing to travel on occasion and provide after-hours support as necessary.
- Must possess excellent problem solving skills and analytical abilities.
