FINE COOKING, one of the hottest food titles on the newsstand now, is looking for an energetic, experienced associate editor to join our staff. The ideal candidate will have excellent line editing and writing skills, a passion for food, and three to five years of publishing experience, as well as a strong culinary knowledge (culinary school or professional cooking experience is a plus). This is a chance to work with a small, talented, and dynamic group, and get your hands into every part of the business from the web to special issues. Our offices are located in southwestern Connecticut, 1 1/2 hours from Manhattan.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Edits raw manuscript to produce lively, readable, and informative copy. Contacts new authors, works with them to develop and outline article ideas, and oversees story development. Works with editor and art director, develops art and/or photo plans to illustrate articles. Reviews copy at every stage of production.

Researches and writes articles for magazine.

Works on web and special issues & other duties as assigned.

Represents the magazine by attending events and trade shows.

3 to 5 years of publishing experience

Strong language & writing skills

Passion for food & strong culinary knowledge
