Workman Publishing seeks an assistant publicist for its dynamic team to provide publicity support on a variety of campaigns for a diverse list of food and lifestyle titles, both new and backlist. Candidate must have strong interest in publicity, publishing, event planning, and lifestyle books.Publicity assistant will be responsible for working on publicity campaigns with senior staff, such as assisting with media follow-up, creating tour schedules, writing press releases and pitch letters, prepare promotional material for events, obtaining images for media placements, and coordinating large mailings. Must have excellent phone manners and be able to work under pressure.Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills (Microsoft Work, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. The assistant will report to the director of publicity for Workman Publishing's line of lifestyle titles. B.A./B.S. degree required. Prior publicity or public relations experience is preferred.
