C-SPAN is seeking a temporary Logistic Editor to coordinate the technical and logistical requirements for C-SPAN's programming operations. Position runs for 13 weeks from start date.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

To coordinate the technical and logistical requirements for C-SPAN's programming operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Coordinates the daily schedule of Field Technicians for event coverage in DC.

  • Works with event sponsors to determine technical requirements for events and communicates these to C-SPAN Technicians.

  • Hires freelance crews when necessary.

  • Coordinates technical and logistical requirements for remote domestic and international coverage, including crew hires, studio bookings, satellite requests for time, up-links, down-links and fiber.

  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline required.

  • Minimum three years related experience, preferably Assignment Desk or crew-scheduling role.

  • Strong knowledge of personnel and equipment requirements for remote television production.

  • Understanding of the technical and logistical needs of crews in the field.

  • Working knowledge of fiber, satellite and microwave technology.

  • Excellent organizational skills a must.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

  • Must work well under pressure and within tight deadline constraints.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing programming priorities.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to exercise editorial judgment.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.

  • Familiarity with Excel spread sheets and Microsoft Word.
