The Director of Corporate Communication works directly for Head of the Communications Department as the deputy spokesperson for AOL. This position is focused on proactive and reactive media relations, external corporate communications strategy and executive placement. The Director of Corporate Communications is also responsible for managing crisis communications, reactive media relations on sensitive corporate issues, as well as communications strategy and execution on quarterly earnings, SEC filings, legal matters, policy issues and M&A activity.

The job requires working collaboratively with other corporate functions -- Finance, Investor Relations, HR, Policy and Business and Corporate Development as well as with department colleagues supporting the particular business groups (Advertising, Local, Content, etc.) on a daily basis to execute communications plans and ensure message continuity. The candidate in this position must be able to anticipate issues and have the skills to be strategic, proactive and aggressive in response.

The Director of Corporate Communications will be responsible for creating and maintaining strong relationships with the media covering AOL and the Internet tech/Web/media industries more broadly. This role also requires exception writing skills

-- press releases, executive briefing memos, talking points and other background materials.

Key Qualities:
Corporate Communications experience at a public company
On the record spokesperson experience for corporate issues
Excellent writing skills
Familiarity with and ability to deploy all communications tactics (releases, video, social media, opinion leader campaigns, etc.)
Ability to develop and execute communications strategy as well as develop and manage media relationships


At least 10-12 years experience as a full-time communications person in a public company
