The Role:
Bloomberg is seeking a media director who will oversee the media planning function for the web and mobile sales organizations at Bloomberg and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Candidate will report to the Head of Web and Mobile ad operations. Candidate is responsible for managing team of media planners and will work in concert with ad sales, ad traffic and ad inventory/pricing teams to develop, implement and analyze web and mobile media programs for a variety of clients.


Develop new advertising programs
- Support international sales teams to develop creative marketing solutions to present to their brand partners.
- Evaluate current sales efforts and implement new initiatives to help increase sales revenue.
- Craft new online sponsorship opportunities.
- Design sales strategies to open new advertising verticals.
- Collaborate with sales, product, R&D, traffic and inventory teams on creation of custom programs
- Create documentation and train sales and media planning team on new programs and technologies.

Optimize Yield Across Portfolio of Web and Mobile Products
- Study detailed inventory forecasts and sell-through analyses and use them to create informed decisions on pricing exceptions and guidelines for media planners.
- Create pricing strategies for new advertising products.
- Collaborate with sales and inventory teams on quarterly pricing reviews.
- Approve pricing exceptions in conjunction with sales management.
- Track and approve rich media and production costs to ensure that they adhere to project budgets for custom programs and drive profitable business for Bloomberg.

Analysis of New and Existing Ad Technologies/Trends
- Review incoming RFPs to understand market trends within core verticals.
- Represent Bloomberg at industry conferences and events and read trade materials to stay up-to-date with changes within in industry.
- Collect input from sales team on new trends in client requests.
- Produce and analyze research on new advertising products and programs.
- Analyze effectiveness of past ad programs and products to inform future recommendations.
- Participate in vendor management and selection for new ad technologies.

- Manage team of 3 media planners and communicate core strategies to them for implementation in media plans.
- Review team workflows and optimize as necessary.
- Work with team members to develop skills and grow abilities; Instill a positive, hard-working team spirit.

- 7+ years relevant experience in online advertising sales marketing
- Bachelors degree required; MBA is a plus
- Solid understanding of online marketing with demonstrated ability to identify innovative new sponsorship opportunities and integrated packages for a content site.
- Proven ability to develop concepts and ideas that are effective online and deliver value to the business, advertisers and users.
- Proven analytical skills and ability to communicate information effectively across multiple departments.
- Self-motivated, driven, organized, detail oriented, able to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven success as a manager.
- Digital Ad Agency or Digital Publisher experience required
