Macmillan seeks a director to run its digital media and branded publishing enterprise, Quick and Dirty Tips (QDT) (http://www.quickanddirtytips.com), which includes one of the most listened-to podcast series on i-tunes, a highly visited website, branded e-newsletters, mobile apps, books, and audiobooks. More than 100 million QDT podcast episodes have been downloaded since 2007. QDTs 12 active brands currently include "go to" media personalities, Grammar Girl, The Dog Trainer, Nutrition Diva, Get-Fit Guy, The Public Speaker, and Money Girl. A successful candidate will be entrepreneurial and strategic, devising ways to enhance and build the QDT network as well as developing innovative digital opportunities across the Macmillan trade companies.

Major Responsibilities:

Develop and implement brand strategy and marketing for revenue generation

Oversee publicity and marketing for the QDT experts

Analyze web site and podcast data to determine strategic plans for brand extensions and additional sources of revenue
Develop and implement multi-platform publishing program
Devise creative plans for advertisers, brokers and networks
Effectively negotiate contracts
Supervise staff of two: editor and marketing/production coordinator

Coordinate with QDT founder

Work collaboratively with Macmillan senior management

Required Skills / Knowledge:

Must be highly organized as well as a strong strategic thinker, creative and entrepreneurial, and with excellent communication skills

Solid understanding of multi-platform branding. Knowledge of web development required able to communicate with web developers and designers and prepare a spec list for web developments.

Experience Needed:

5+ years experience in media brand management, book and/or magazine publishing with significant experience in digital products and development.

Educational Background Required:

Bachelors degree
