Editor, Music and Art
Oxford University Press, Inc. is currently conducting a search for a talented Music and Art Acquisitions Editor. This an exciting opportunity to manage and grow OUPs publishing programs in music and art for the post-secondary market by acquiring best-selling new titles. Primary Responsibilities:1.Recruit extraordinary and talented authors to write for OUP. Solicit projects from potential authors, and negotiate them from contract to submission, through external review, and presentation to the editorial board.2.Expand the Oxford brand as a strong and respected presence within the music teaching community in the US. 3.Strategically direct the music and art programs, focusing on strengths and areas that were well positioned to market and promote.4.Found OUPs US higher education art list.5.Travel to college campuses and conventions (12+ weeks per year).6.Build a stable of excellent reviewers and contributors to the Oxford music and art programs.7.Manage the financial and operational needs of the list.QualificationsAlong with being personable, quick-to-learn and competitive, the successful candidate will have all of the following:1. Minimum of two years of higher education sales experience2. A bachelors degree is required, an advanced degree would be an advantage3. Minimum of three years of editorial experience, demonstrating a proven editorial track record in higher education publishing, preferably in art or music4. Available for extensive travel.
