Chronicle Books seeks a strong marketing guru with in-house publishing experience working with childrens books. This role is collaboratively responsible for the strategic development and execution of marketing plans to build sales, increase profitability and enhance Chronicle Books visibility and position in the childrens title marketplace. This role demands strategic and tactical thinking, a driving motivation to grow the business, and a desire to work closely with the childrens publishing group to develop our list.


Work closely with editors and Pub Groups to understand and contribute to their ideas and vision for their titles, and to keep them informed on marketing efforts.
Develop and implement annual long-term marketing and publicity strategy for Childrens publishing group in all market channels, with Senior Manager, Marketing and Publicity, Childrens and other team members.
Communicate regularly with Sales/Marketing on the retail marketplace position and objectives of the Childrens list to drive and improve sales.
Partner with other key Marketing staff, especially in the Lifestyle pub group on their parenting and family-friendly titles, to ensure integrated marketing and publicity efforts.
Develop marketing plans/materials that are creative, revenue-enhancing, customer oriented and reflective of both title and house.
Create innovative and effective online marketing plans, especially in regards to our growing teen list.
Work with the Senior Manager, Marketing and Publicity, Childrens to determine and administer CH marketing budget annually.
Plan, attend, and oversee aspects of Chronicles childrens lists presence at trade shows including overseeing the creation of effective and appropriate trade show materials.
Set strategy for Childrens publishing outreach including entertaining, list previews, and ongoing contact with key industry members (including customers, educators/librarians, and contacts at other publishing houses).
Contribute to marketing efforts on the Chronicle Childrens website.

Requires 5+ years of experience, in-house at a publisher, in childrens book marketing.
Degree in marketing or equivalent.
Strong management skills, demonstrated ability to grow and mentor a team.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional personnel (sales, publicity, editorial, design),
Ability to handle multiple projects, and work to tight deadlines on budget.
Keen communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
