Establish a Business/Economics/Finance publishing program for the undergraduate and MBA market through leveraging existing OUP publications, revising key titles, and aggressively acquiring and developing new titles.

Primary Responsibilities:

1.Aggressively acquire new titles and negotiate them from contract to submission, through external review, and prepare them for presentation to the editorial board.

2.Establish the Oxford brand as a strong and respected presence within the undergraduate and MBA teaching community in the US.

3.Work with the international offices, OUP UK and OUP India in particular, and our authors to develop and publish timely adaptations that will both garner international sales and protect domestic sales by eliminating reimportation.

4.Identify and adapt titles from international OUP branches for sale in the U.S.

5.Strategically direct the Business publishing program, focusing on strengths and areas that were well positioned to market and promote.

6.Regularly revise titles with strong sales potential.

7.In collaboration with your marketing and sales colleagues, drive adoptions.

8.Campus travel (10+ weeks per year) plus convention travel.

9.Build a stable of excellent reviewers and contributors to the Oxford Business program.

10.Transmit titles to development, editing, and production.

11.Work closely with the OUP US Academic group to exploit areas of useful collaboration.

12.Work closely with the UK office and with international sales to ensure the list is well represented overseas.

13.Manage the financial and operational needs of the list.

14.Manage an editorial assistant and/or an assistant/associate editor.

Job Requirements:

The successful applicant will have a strong record of list growth as an acquisitions editor in Higher Education. At least four years acquisitions editorial experience in HE required, preferably in business disciplines. Bachelors degree is required; an MBA is ideal. Previous HE sales experience required.
