Quirk Books has published some of the most original and innovative books of the last ten years--including oddball bestsellers like PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, and THE WORST-CASE SCENARIO SURVIVAL HANDBOOK. Now we'd like to apply our unique sensibility to children's books--but first we'll need a creative and talented editor to join our creative team. Our new children's program will cover a range of projects, from picture books to tween/YA fiction and nonfiction.What You'll Do:--Acquire, develop, and edit 8 books annually. Many titles on Quirk's list are conceived in-house and developed with freelance writers. --Manage all projects from acquisition through publication.--Participate in all aspects of packaging, marketing, production, and digital adaptation.--Cultivate relationships with authors, artists, literary agents, and licensing agents.What You'll Need:--Ability to conceive projects independently or in conjunction with writers and/or artists.--At least five years of experience with a commercial trade book publisher or literary agency. --Excellent writing skills.--Solid network of author/agent contacts. --Comprehensive knowledge of publishing industry.Please send resume, salary history, and a list of notable title acquisitions via email through Media Bistro.
