The Putnam, Riverhead and Tarcher Advertising and Promotions department is looking for a talented and creative individual to contribute fresh new ideas for book promotion. The Designer will have the opportunity to promote a wide array of exciting titles, from blockbuster authors to literary fiction, and to be a part of a spirited team. The Designer will create marketing and promotional materials including print and online advertising, postcards, bookmarks, and invitations, design catalogs three times per year, and create visual presentations used at seasonal sales conferences, as well as custom presentations for author and agent meetings and items for corporate Penguin Group (USA) events.

The Designer will also help write ad copy, manage freelancers, liaise with vendors, design and build mobile landing pages and websites, and film and edit author videos.

-4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
-Minimum 3 years prior advertising/promotions, design experience
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multi-tasking ability; able to turn around projects quickly and take on many projects at a time
-Enthusiastic with appreciation for books and promotional design
-Must be able and willing to amend designs in order to fit the needs of Sales and Marketing and each imprint's aesthetic; able to make changes through several rounds of revisions while maintaining a positive and professional attitude and approach
-Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, html coding, & Final Cut Pro
-Knowledge of Adobe Flash a plus
-Knowledge of video production filming, lighting, and staging a plus
