We are seeking a Senior Vice President/Digital Media Director to join our thriving Boston team.The SVP/Digital Media Director will provide vision and leadership to our expanding media teams as they deliver products and services for clients while supporting agency vision. Supervise the development of strategic channel and media approaches that meet client objectives and drive measurable results. Collaborate with senior level creative and account folks on various accounts. Identify new media offerings based on the digital marketplace and client parameters. Develop and/or supervise creation and implementation of social media programs. Provide a holistic viewpoint in order to optimize across channels. Manage strategic senior-level relationships for our largest clients and helping to guide them with knowledge and solutions appropriate to their businesses, industries and trends. Participate in new business development opportunities in conjunction with analytics and brand planning teams, including creation of pitch materials, presentations, scoping and more. Work closely with CMO as part of senior leadership team to define future direction of team and department. Provide thought leadership and inspiration to digital media team. Collaborate with director and AMD's on best practices and overall department management. As necessary, develop and manage third party vendors or contractors required to provide products or services to meet the department's delivery mandates. Develop points of view on digital marketing and media related to specific verticals, industry trends, and/or client experiences to share through social platforms and marketing materials while actively representing it externally at trade conferences, in the press and on industry councils. Stay current on trends across evolving media channels and related technologies. Serve as one of the primary sources of expertise within the agency on digital media. Additional behavioral notes:
  • Needs to have "grown up" in the digital space vs. having a traditional background. We're looking for someone that has actually been in the weeds and trafficked campaigns, implicitly understands tagging, tracking and the technical aspects of the digital channel
  • Has a stellar reputation among employees they have managed, not just clients and their own direct reports. This is very important—we want someone who is role model material: fair, level-headed, inspiring
  • Open-minded, curious and passionate about digital. We want to be able to tap into this person to get fresh perspectives and new thinking
  • Must be well-known and respected in the industry; Someone who frequently speaks on panels and is considered an industry leader

    Four-year degree required10-15 years of digital media specific experience Minimum of five years agency experience Minimum of five years managing, building and motivating teams Expertise and demonstrable success with media planning/strategy, search marketing, social media Deep understanding of third-party ad serving, web analytics and other data sources such as Google analytics and NetInsightAbility to understand client objectives and translate them into media strategies Proven business development expertise and leadership skills Proven ability to foster effective client and vendor relationships Knowledge and understanding of relevant tools and resources including research partners, ad servers, search engines, analytics, etc. Solid understanding of online advertising and direct marketing performance metrics Proficiency in managing numbers High level of proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, and Word; experience with Omniture, AdRelevance, etc.Mullen is an eoe encouraging diversity in the workplace.
