Guilford Press seeks a savvy, flexible professional for a multifaceted position to work in our NYC office in the Sales Dept. This position works closely with staff across departments, authors, and customers to service existing accounts and to expand our sales into new areas, working both independently and providing departmental support in a fast-paced, friendly, and challenging atmosphere. Great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in publishing.

Major duties include: handle all facets of key retail and wholesale account support; work with existing customers and selectively expand our customer base; conduct sales presentations; suggest and execute coop and promotion ideas; create and distribute sales literature; generate new distribution leads and contribute to department and companywide initiatives; prepare reports. Some travel is required.

Core Competencies
* 2 -4 years sales experience within book publishing
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent presentation skills
* Communicate key activity and sales trends back to management
* Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule workload
* Effective use of databases
* Great attention to detail
* Must be able to meet strict deadlines
* Innovative thinking
* Ability to compile and analyze data
* Collaborative, team outlook strong interpersonal skills
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
* Bachelor's degree required
