New Media Content Manager
The Southern Poverty Law Center, a leading civil rights organization located in Montgomery, Ala., seeks a New Media Content Manager for SPLCenter.org, Tolerance.org and other web initiatives.As a member of the online production team, the content manager will work closely with editorial and technical staff to produce content. The content manager also resolves site changes and helps plan site additions. Copyediting skills are required, though this is not a writing position. An interest in applying emerging web technologies and trends to the SPLCs mission is appreciated.Responsibilities Develop, commission and evaluate web content for editorial and technical integrityProduce daily contentFormat and deploy HTML emailMaintain content scheduleKeep other departments informed of web projects Interact with the SPLC community in social mediaGenerate trend reports using web analytics RequirementsAt least one year of online experience with a content-rich operationFamiliarity with social mediaCMS experience (Drupal highly desired)Competent with HTML for text markup (CSS understanding a plus) Strong copyediting and proofreading skills (understanding of SEO a plus)Excellent written communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to work on deadline Understanding of web usabilityCandidates with a background in journalism, communications or advocacy are highly desired.
