Job Summary

The Assistant Online Marketing Manager is responsible for administrating the OUP, Inc. web site including merchandising and cross divisional online marketing initiatives. This individual carries out a variety of tasks: coordinating site merchandising and maintenance, developing promotional offer strategy to drive revenue growth, managing special initiatives in online marketing, and maintaining centralized scheduling of email campaigns. Role requires close collaboration with colleagues within the direct response team as well as product marketing, exhibits, technology, and customer service to ensure that all efforts are coordinated effectively. Leads online marketing team of three four. Flexibility, strong communication skills, organization, and attention to detail are all critical success qualities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Web Administration
Regularly update and maintain site merchandising and content to mirror email campaigns, marketing efforts, and monthly/seasonal promotions.
Coordinate policy and logistics with other departments (customer service and technology) and other divisions (Higher Education and Journals)
Actively participate and facilitate transition to new platform including the development and documentation of new processes and communication plan for launch of new site.

Customer List Management and Growth
Email list management through Email Labs system including the overall scheduling of campaigns based on customer list usage. Also, work with product marketing, customer service, and exhibits to develop strategy for list growth.
Work with direct marketing managers to execute projects related to increasing site presence and email list growth.
Lead online marketing team in developing and executing list growth initiatives

Campaign Management
Cross divisional promotional campaigns -- campaign planning and management
oDevelop the offers including tests
omanage the execution including internet subject organization, quality check on web catalogue, evaluation of mix of titles to determine optimal email list plan
oWork with creative services to have all appropriate creative developed for holiday, affiliate and other seasonal campaigns
oCreate the landing pages for campaigns.
Evaluate, develop, and implement search engine optimization, pay per click, and other discoverability initiatives including Google Book Search to improve site traffic
Lead team in developing email deployment strategy and execution for sales and adoption campaigns
Continuously evolve web and email campaigns to align with current best practices and with strategic goals of OUPs global academic business

Collaborate with product marketing to assist with managing our affiliate marketing program with associations with areas of responsibilities including but not limited to:

oInterface with external affiliate partner
oAnalyze campaigns and reporting through clearly defined metrics.
oManage landing page development, research and optimization initiatives to improve conversion.
oManage day-to-day execution of promotional initiatives

Collect and analyze performance metrics for web site traffic, specialized web campaigns, and affiliates.


Proficiency with HTML and Dreamweaver is highly-preferable. Experience with CSS and Adobe Photoshop is beneficial.
Confidence and adaptability in using new content management tools and database systems
Proven track record developing online marketing campaigns
Must be highly self-motivated, articulate, possess a strong creative flair and solid copywriting skills
Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills
Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and Access) are required.
BA or BS degree with a minimum of three years of online marketing experience. Publishing experience not required.
