Supervises (from a production editorial standpoint) the production of fiction and light nonfiction books from receipt of edited manuscript through bound book and e-book, including paperback offsets and reprints. Using MS Word, codes and updates electronic manuscripts; copyedits, proofreads, and routes jacket mechanicals and other materials. Hires freelance copy editors, proofreaders, and indexers and oversees their work. Works with editors, designers, and production managers in anticipating and resolving problems. Evaluates and coordinates artwork and/or back-matter materials. Collates and checks proofs; copyedits and proofreads miscellaneous material (i.e., front matter, back matter, indexes) and flap copy, mechanicals, and fujis. Manages multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality control and tight production schedules. Assists others in department as required.QualificationsMust possess college degree or equivalent work experience. Prior relevant work experience, 3+ years. Must have strong computer/MS Word skills.
