Oxford University Press is looking for a talented, creative, and experienced Senior Editor to manage and expand our presence in the social work and public health/epidemiology market.


- Plan, commission, develop, and launch projects and series to expand our presence by building on successful textbook and professional publishing lists.
- Identify and recruit potential authors, advisors, and editorial boards, to assist in the development, repurposing, and revision of products, where appropriate.
- Prepare a growth strategy with marketing and sales that exploits new markets including undergraduate/graduate markets and electronic products, where appropriate.
- Prepare proposals for editorial board; negotiate, sign, and acquire new projects and series titles.
- Review, evaluate, and develop manuscripts; work with authors/advisors to ensure works meet OUP editorial standards and market needs.
- Work with production, marketing, and sales staff to ensure successful launch of titles and series.
- Create good working relationship with UK counterparts and marketing, sharing strategy for UK/US collaboration, where appropriate.
- Assist Rights team in exploiting licensing and special sales opportunities, and communicating contact information to sales.
- Assist Journals team in managing discipline journals in area.
- Explore electronic formats for all projects, especially PDA and online delivery.

Job Requirements:

Minimum five to seven years of editorial experience, including textbook publishing, professional publishing, and proven track record in creating, commissioning, and executing new book/electronic series. Bachelor degree is required.
