Editorial Producer, NJToday
The Editorial Producer will research, plan and coordinate guests for news interviews on a daily television newscast. He/she will work closely with the editorial team at all stages of the interview process from story selection to guest choice and contact, and through the post-production process. Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to, researching and pitching interview segments; securing guest commitments, greeting guests at the studio; writing scripts; ordering graphics and supers; working with on-camera talent as required; and supervising editing of pertinent segments and video. The Editorial Producer will also be trained to fill-in for the assignment editor and show producer as needed. In addition, he/she will liaise, as necessary, with various other departments, including publicity, production services, finance and legal. To qualify, candidates must have a BS or BA, or equivalent work experience along with three (3) years experience in television production, at least one of which will have been spent booking news guest segments for a daily or weekly current affairs segment and/or news program. Candidates should have exceptional research skills, written and verbal communication and presentation skills, exceptional ability to write for video and the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and to problem-solve when difficulties arise.
