The Ad Councils Corporate Communication Manager works with the Corporate Communications Team on various aspects of public relations and social media programs designed to promote the Ad Council and its more than 50 public service advertising (PSA) campaigns to the advertising, media and philanthropy communities, as well as the campaigns key target audiences and the general public. The Manager works specifically with the Ad Councils campaign managers and sponsors on public relations and social media programs relating to their campaigns.

Essential Functions:

Works closely with the VP and Manager of Corporate Communications on all aspects of public relations and social media both for the organizations clients as well as for the Ad Council. This includes the creation and implementation of PR and social media strategies and the management of all of the program elements, including media relations, Satellite and Radio Media Tours (SMTs/RMTs), grassroots marketing and social media programs (i.e. Facebook and Twitter programs, blog outreach). This also includes raising awareness of the Ad Councils special events, strategic partnerships and results, cultivating new and existing relationships with reporters and editors in all forms of media and issue areas. Additionally, the manager will help execute in-house social media services including community management, content production and digital PR and recruit and manage external agencies and vendors. The manager will also conduct news monitoring and provide administrative support to the Corporate Communications department, maintaining precise records of all news coverage of the Ad Council, its national PSA campaigns and the social issues addressed by the campaigns. Assists and works with members of our Public Relations, Social Media, Special Events and Interactive teams. Reports to the VP of PR and Social Media.

Counsels Ad Council campaign managers on public relations and social media activities and opportunities designed to extend the reach of the campaigns.
Assists supervisors with day-to-day activities such as background informational research, proposals and press releases.
Assists in the development, implementation and management of PR/social media programs
Drafts external communications related to Ad Council news including press releases, presentations and talking points for spokespeople for various events and press conferences.
Assists Director of Special Events with preparation for all events, including the Annual Public Service Award Dinner (i.e. database management, mailings, publications, etc.)
Conducts outreach to national and local press across all media.
Inputs press coverage into PR database daily.
Monitors Ad Council, campaign, issue and PR/social media industry news coverage, and prepares coverage reports when requested.
Conducts research on potential social media and PR agency partners, as well as other strategic partners and potential spokespeople.
Drafts Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and evaluates proposals on behalf of Ad Council clients.
Writes and edits Ad Council publications including its Board Quarterly and Annual Report.
Prepares summaries/analyses of public relations activities during previous Quarter.
Tracks departmental billing projections.
Various departmental administrative duties including, photocopying, faxing, mailing, etc.
Serves as liaison for publications, TV shows, production companies, which includes providing requested materials, securing approvals, release forms, etc.
Responds to inquiries from the general public and industry constituents.

Minimum Job Requirements:
3-5 years of experience in public relations and social media
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Work, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with using social media, including social networks, blogs, mobile/location-based and emerging technologies
Ability to understand technical concepts and convey them in a simple and concise way
Proven media pitching skills and results
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated and goal-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
