Rodale is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and talented Deputy Art Director to join Prevention magazines award winning art team. This position is a unique opportunity for the ideal designer to be hands on with the innovative content that has established Prevention as the world's leading health and fitness publication. The candidate will be a self starter, have a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.

The position requires:
Minimum five years magazine experience
Designing of features, departments and service packages as well as contributing towards the continued modernization and evolution of the brand.
Assist the creative team in continuously evolving the magazines design, planning and executing feature layouts, assigning illustration and working with the production and pre-press staffs
A passion and experience in visualizing and art directing food shoots is a necessity.
A talent for concepting ideas and visuals for all sections of the book.
Oversight and production of approximately two special interest publications per year in addition to occasional art direction of designers to produce similar publications.
Strong type sensibility, excellent aptitude for visual story telling as well as service packaging and a general passion for what is going on within the design world.
Create exciting info-graphics, charts, logos, small illustrations, and visual explanations.
Great attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
An ability to collaborate with Creative Director, Design Director and a team of photo editors and editors as well as to be a self starter in getting projects off the ground and taking initial concepts forward to a highly polished product.
An enthusiasm for, and connections with, an extensive list of illustrators and photographers.
An excellent knowledge of the key Adobe CS software and content management [K4] set up.

The candidate will be a self-starter, be hard-working, have a positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Having an eye for detail, the ability to take the initiative and organize multiple projects is a must. Occasional late nights can be expected during our shipping week. Candidate should be fluent in the key Adobe CS applications, and have a keen interest in publishings digital formats (any experience in this area is a bonus).
