Production Designer (temporary)
Oxford University Press seeks a temporary Production Designer to work on the preparation of book covers, mechanicals, and interiors (complex 4/c, 2/c, and one color) for printing, in fast paced, deadline oriented Academic publishing environment. Responsibilities include preparing and releasing cover mechanicals to printer, writing composition specifications for interiors, adapting existing template designs, modifying designs, and creation of stylesheets. Oversight includes managing, attending regular meetings, interacting with key publishing staff, maintaining the high design standards, and adhering to schedules and budgets without fail.This is a long term, full time temporary position.3 years publishing experience required. Interior design experience preferable. Must be versed in all Adobe Creative Suite applications and Quark.Candidates must have portfolio demonstrating excellent typographic skill and design examples as well as examples of written typesetting specifications.
