The Ad Council's Online PR/Media Specialist is a member of the Corporate Communications Team and conducts media relations, blogger outreach and digital PR designed to promote the Ad Council and its more than 50 public service advertising (PSA) campaigns.

Essential Functions: Works closely with the VP and Managers of Corporate Communications on social media outreach for both for the organizations clients as well as for the Ad Council. This includes developing and growing relationships with press and blogs, as well as key online influencers. Primary responsibilities will include identifying media targets, coordinating interviews, pitching press, drafting talking points, maintaining current media lists, conducting news monitoring and developing reports.

This also includes cultivating new and existing relationships with reporters and editors in all forms of media and issue areas with an emphasis in online. The media specialist will help execute in-house social media services and recruit and manage external social media agencies and vendors. The Media Specialist assists and works with members of our Public Relations, Social Media and Interactive teams. Reports to the VP of PR and Social Media.

Responsibilities:
Conducts outreach to national and local press across all media (online, broadcast and print), as well as responds to media inquiries
Develops and maintains relationships with bloggers and online press, as well as key influencers
Identifies media targets and updates press and blogger lists
Drafts external communications related to Ad Council and campaign news including press releases, presentations and talking points for spokespeople for various events and press conferences.
Assists in the development, implementation and management of PR/social media programs
Monitors Ad Council, campaign, issue and PR/social media industry news coverage, and prepares coverage reports when requested.
Responds to inquiries from the general public and industry constituents.

Minimum Job Requirements:
4-6 years of experience in public relations and social media
Proven media pitching skills and results in all forms of media with proven track record in online/social media (broadcast, print and online)
Experience with using social media, including social networks, blogs, mobile/location-based and emerging technologies
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Work, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to understand technical concepts and convey them in a simple and concise way.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated and goal-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
