The Food Network is currently seeking a Director, Public Relations to strategize and direct the assigned network's media relations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Confer with VP to develop internal communications that keep employees and the public informed of company priorities/agenda/activities.
- Identify main audiences and determine the best way to communicate publicity information to them that is on strategy.
- Assign, supervise and review the activities of public relations staff.
- Formulate policies and procedures related to department needs.
- Direct activities of external agencies, establishments and departments that develop and implement communication strategies and information programs.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with media representatives.
- Manage special events or other activities the company supports in order to gain public attention through the media without advertising directly.
- Work with VP to establish departmental budget and work to ensure the team stays on that budget.
- Other duties as needed and as directed by VP.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience: 8-10 years experience in the Public Relations/Press field.

Education: Bachelors in related field; Masters degree preferred.

Skills: Ideal candidate will be proficient in directing press agencies and handling reporters. Has demonstrated track record as a creative and successful press professional. Should have ability to grasp, process and translate the technological landscape which drives our businesses from both the industry and consumer perspective. Ability to take on more responsibility as the company grows. Must be a decisive, experienced leader with strong interpersonal skills who will develop and communicate the press vision. A depth and breadth of professional experience is critical. Ideal candidate must effectively troubleshoot with an eye toward anticipating, identifying and forming strategic solutions. Must be well-organized and possess the ability to handle a multitude of projects simultaneously.
