Bicycling Magazine is looking for a Design Director for its award winning print and digital editions. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years experience managing and directing design and photo departments. This candidate must be able to manage a fast-paced art department, juggle multiple jobs, and have strong presentation skills. This position will ensure consistent identity across brand related products, including print, digital, tablet, and special projects. He/She will manage, direct, and mentor art department staff, as well as oversee daily workflow and production.

Qualifications include: Extensive experience concepting and art directing a wide variety of photography including concepts, still shoots, travel, fashion and style, food, health, and fitness. Must have very strong communication skills and be able to navigate and articulate complex concepts and editorial conceits with dynamic editorial, design, and photo teams. Must be a conceptual thinker with strong skills at thinking and interpreting complex concepts and stories visually. Must have very strong typography, design and art direction skills. Must have exceptional organizational and time management skills. Strong knowledge of design, typography, photography, and illustration.
