We have an exciting opportunity for an eBook Developer to contribute to the further growth of the Young Readers division’s overall content development initiatives. The eBook Developer will be responsible for creating a wide-range of digital custom and specialty products across the division from text-only to interactive picture books. With an emphasis on high-quality design and user functionality, the eBook Developer will also be responsible for the quality assurance of new digital products and will work closely with other internal departments as well as outside vendors/freelancers as needed.

Specifically, the eBook Developer:

1. Manages the overall content development of Young Readers eBooks and digital products; creates eBooks from raw assets.
2. Distributes clean source files to in-house conversion team for all major eBook accounts (Apple, B&N, and Amazon).
3. Reviews and ensures content consistency, design, and cross-platform functionality.
4. Ensures all aspects of quality assurance as well as debugging known issues.
5. Coordinates proofreading and archival of finished eBooks and other digital products in collaboration with eBooks department.

Please apply if you meet the following requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (preferably in Computer Science, Graphic or Web Design, Visual Communication or similar area)
•Prior experience with eBook design and production or related application development experience
•Strong technical knowledge including ePub coding (XML, HTML, CSS, Javascript); experience with ePub editing and validation tools; advanced experience in InDesign CS5.5 as well as Adobe Creative Suite
•Prior experience in quality assurance methodology and documentation
•Adept in software/hardware troubleshooting
•Strong design (graphic and/or interactive) skills and excellent typography skills
•Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
•Ability to quickly master new products and technologies and understand their applicability in the digital space
