Conference Sponsorship Sales Executive

The Conference Sponsorship Sales Executive is responsible for the researching, prospecting, presenting and closing sponsorship and exhibit opportunities for CFO Conferences. This position requires frequent client and prospect contact and the ability to manage several projects at once. You’ll be challenged with prospecting, developing sales activity, moving companies through the sales pipeline, executing on sales plans and account management following the sale.

Main responsibilities include:

• Meet and exceed all sales targets and goals developed by the Sales Director.
• Design and deliver telephone and face-to face presentations to sell sponsorship and exhibit opportunities as well as custom events to current and prospective clients.
• Work with prospective clients and the rest of the conference team to uncover new vendor categories and develop new sponsorship opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with exhibitors and sponsors, while ensuring customer satisfaction and initiating up-sell opportunities.
• Become a trusted advisor to the sponsors and exhibitors.
• Collaborate with the conference team to identify key accounts for each event and implement a plan to sell sponsorships to them.
• Be adept at navigating your way through a company to uncover all decision makers and ultimately build a relationship with them.
• Attend competitive events to identify and meet with key prospects.
• Attend CFO conferences to ensure sponsor and exhibitor satisfaction and further build the relationships.
• Ability to build industry expertise of the market by recognizing and responding to trends, changes, innovations and overall market conditions.
• Continuously seek out leads for potential sponsors from every possible source including: advertisers in other media, internet sources, competitive shows, news articles, professional associations, social media outlets, etc.
• Constantly build and maintain sales database, tracking your sales activity and moving opportunities through the pipeline.

Candidates for this position require the motivation, initiative and attention to detail and deadlines required to provide a high degree of service and to implement these requirements in a professional manner. Communication skills, project management skills, high energy, collaborative and the ability to successfully prioritize, multi-task and organize are necessary.

The ideal candidate will have strong prospecting, negotiating and relationship building skills. Past sponsorship or advertising sales (particularly direct conference sponsorship or exhibit sales) history is desirable, not required. Service-driven industry sales experience (as opposed to product-driven sales) is essential as is customer service oriented, solution based, consultative sales experience. Knowledge of accounts in the finance and technology industry is a plus.
