Assistant Professor of Media Arts
The Media Arts Department in the School of Communications and the Arts at Marist College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment to teach Interactive Media & Game Design courses in the newly established B.A. in Media Studies and Production, commencing Fall 2013. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of interactive media, its technologies, theories, and production processes, and possess knowledge of traditional and experimental approaches related to interactive media. The Media Arts Department in the School of Communication and the Arts offers the BA in Media Studies and Production with concentrations in Film & Television and Interactive Media and Game Design. For more information about this new exciting degree, please visit: http://www.marist.edu/commarts/mediaarts/mediaartsnewdegreealt.htmlQualified candidates will hold a Ph.D., M.F.A. or other terminal degree in New Media, Human-Computer Interaction, Game Studies, Media Studies, or in a relevant field at the time of the appointment, and possess a record of teaching, scholarship or creative work, and service commensurate with the appointment. Candidates with significant work toward degree completion may be considered. Candidates must have proficiency in both PC and MAC-based computer environments, as well as different industry-standard design applications and game authoring tools (such as Flash/Actionscript, HTML5, CSS, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, In Design, Illustrator, GameMaker, Scratch, or Unity 3D). Industry or practical experience in designing games, interactive applications, social media, or mobile media is a plus, as is experience with UI/UX, interaction design, experience design, and information architecture.
