Freelance Media Instructors
BRIC is the community access television organization for Brooklyn. Its community media programs offer residents free access to media production facilities and equipment and low-cost media education through the Brooklyn Center for Media Education. BRIC’s community media programming also includes three programming initiatives aired on the 4-channel BCAT-TV Network: community-produced Brooklyn Free Speech TV; BRIC-produced, Brooklyn-focused Brooklyn Independent Television; and Brooklyn Bulletin Board, a 24/7 looping announcement service used by Brooklyn non-profits. BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn seeks experienced media professionals to teach various media production classes to Brooklyn residents. Courses include: •Basic Television Studio Production (studio floor, control room operations);•Non-linear editing (Avid Media Composer 5);•Field production (camera, shot composition, lighting, and sound); •Graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite)Freelance Media Instructors report to the Manager of Education. Responsibilities include:•Prepare lesson plans and provide instruction to classes of twelve adults;•Evaluate students’ progress and verify competence for certification to use our media center facilities and equipment;•Meet regularly with the Manager of Education to review curriculum and class outcomesQualifications•Expertise in television studio production, control room operations, chroma keying, video switcher, character generator, teleprompter, robo cam, microphones, and audio sound board;•Expertise in field production with digital video cameras, especially Panasonic AVCCAM cameras, three point lighting, and field microphones; •Expertise in non-linear editing with Avid Media Composer 5 software;•Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite;•Experience working with a diverse public with varying levels of technical skill;•Ability to be highly organized and detail oriented;•Flexible schedule Compensation & Schedule$28/hour; classes are from 12-18 total hours, with preparation time.
