Job Description


Under moderate supervision and with moderate latitude for independent judgment, the Multimedia Producer reports to the Senior Multimedia Designer and handles the videography and photography needs of the Office of Communications. This position is essential to achieving the department’s strategic communications goals by utilizing video and photography to document stories that reflect the Institute’s key messages.

Position Duties

- Work with various clients throughout the Division of Institutional Advancement to develop stories, and strategic, high- quality photo and video content for Pratt’s Web site and other electronic publications.

- Handle all aspects of content development for video projects including pre-production, production, and post-production such as scripting, location scouting, shooting, editing, lighting, sound, compression, color correction, graphics, and authoring for delivery to Pratt’s website through its content management system, and to its social media channels.

- Handle all aspects of photography including pre-production, planning, and scheduling, as well as shooting, color correction, archiving, and distribution to key stakeholders.

- Serve as videographer/photographer for both internal and external events when available, as well as for all print and electronic publications produced by the Institute including Gateway (monthly electronic newsletter), annual catalogues, strategic marketing materials, and for the news, alumni, and development pages of the Web site.

- Hire and manage freelance photographers and videographers/editors as needed.

- Oversee production of videos to be shown at special events hosted by Pratt and coordinate live streaming to Pratt Web site as needed.

- Coordinate crews and manage production staff for live streaming and webcasting of all Pratt-related events both on and off campus.

- Handle all rights issues and releases on all shoots, including photo and video, and coordinate licensing agreements from outside vendors including freelance photographers, videographers, and music production companies.

- Manage shared photography and video database for the department.

- Support additional publicity, social media, and marketing initiatives as assigned.

Requirements and Specific Skills

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; video reel and photo portfolio required; and at least 3-5 years demonstrated experience as a professional videographer is required.

Must possess technical video skills along with basic understanding of video/photo journalism and how to utilize video to craft a compelling narrative.

Must possess strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities to be able to produce multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines with attention to detail.

Experience using professional photo and video equipment as well as editing software including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Media Encoder).

Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
