BrainLine is a national multimedia project that offers authoritative information about preventing, treating, and living with traumatic brain injury. The project focuses primarily on the needs of people who are hurt through car crashes, falls, sports injuries, etc., but we also devote substantial resources to serving soldiers and veterans who have sustained brain injuries in combat.

WETA Learning Media develops and produces national education projects including websites, PBS programs, and extensive outreach. BrainLine is the newest of these award-winning projects. We also operate: www.ReadingRockets.org, www.LDOnLine.org, www.ColorinColorado.org, and www.AdLit.org. These sites all rank at or near the top of their fields and collectively they attract more than 800,000 unique visitors each month. In addition to the website, the BrainLine project also includes webcasts, an electronic newsletter, print material, outreach with national partners, and an ambitious social media effort.

The manager will oversee the editorial and technical operation of BrainLine.org and also contribute to our long-range site strategy and planning. On the editorial side, the manager will need to understand the challenges faced by the brain injury community: people with brain injuries and their families, as well as researchers, doctors, nurses, sports coaches and trainers, et al. The manager will guide our work in producing, acquiring, and presenting content. The manager will also be involved in improving the user experience, using social media effectively, serving mobile users, increasing our audience substantially, and integrating BrainLine’s work more deeply with the operation of our other national websites.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum five years progressively responsible experience directing successful online projects; managing and motivating editorial, creative, and technical staff, including front-end developers.
Experience working with brain injury or related fields (e.g. public health, mental health issues, science and medicine, and military issues) preferred.
Journalistic experience reporting on medical, scientific, public health, mental health or military issues helpful.
