The Tallahassee Democrat is seeking an innovative and experienced top performing strategic leader to serve as President and Publisher of Democrat in Tallahassee, Florida. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the digital space and be a strong leader and understand how to execute market strategies to drive audience and advertising market share by leveraging a strong digital content brand. The Publisher works to align employee’s efforts locally and across a number of consolidated service centers to drive revenue growth, audience, efficiencies and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate and move the newspaper’s core values into action. The position reports to the South Group President.

Responsibilities:



Ensuring achievement of financial objectives, including revenues, expenses and operating profits, monitoring and requiring adherence to Gannett’s financial guidelines, policies and procedures.
Coordinating local personnel and key consolidated service units across the company to grow audiences and to provide quality multi-platform publishing and customer care.
Aligning local and centralized efforts through seamless communications, operational planning and budgeting, capital planning, strategic planning. Ensuring high quality standards and quality control.
Developing and monitoring the quality of products across platforms to produce operating results; initiating enhancements to support brand and produce maximum results.
Setting overall news and editorial focus that provides editorially successful products across platforms, provides leadership in local news and public service, placing the brand at the forefront in efforts to improve the quality of life of the community it serves.
Developing an advertising sales strategy that identifies opportunities for improved advertising market share, increasing advertising revenues; and developing successful customer-centric relationships.
Developing and enhancing digital products to grow revenue and strengthen the market footprint.
Providing marketing leadership that develops and builds relationships with advertisers and readers.
Engaging employees to pursue company goals with a strong sense of purpose and direction.


Qualifications:



Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
A proven track record of performing in a senior management position for a digital company.
A history of successful leadership, innovation and goal achievement in a multimedia company.
Candidates with a history of building revenue are preferred.
