The Director of Marketing leads the Marketing Department in developing and building awareness of the Queens Library brand and promotion of its mission, programs and services to Queens Library’s customer base and the public library community. The Director works among the broad spectrum of marketing functions and is accountable for planning, directing and implementing marketing strategies to define and attain Queens Library’s goals and strategic objectives in order to expand and sustain Queens Library’s visibility, service promotion/delivery and effectiveness as a leading public library system. This position will work closely across the organization’s functional business units.

Key competencies include excellent leadership and business acumen. Must be a strategic thinker with tactical execution and have the ability to create new strategies and translate them into detailed action plans. Provides overall creative strategy, layout and design support for marketing materials to ensure brand consistency. Implements advertising/collateral strategies in support of Queens Library’s branding. Responsible for the management of the marketing department staff that includes, print and social media, production and reprographics. Approves and ensures print and media production adherence to brand guidelines. Identifies opportunities to build, refine and strengthen the Queens Library’s position in the community. Responsible for the oversight and production of print and electronic communications vehicles. Oversees and manages website.

Develop video and other content for media broadcasting to deliver QL programs and services via television, web, social media and other related technology resources. Manages allocated departmental funding and makes cost/benefit recommendations and decisions. Delivers projects and services on deadline and on budget.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Marketing Management with demonstrated experience in the management and leadership of a mid size department. Must have demonstrated track record for setting and exceeding aggressive goals. Must have the ability to create and rigorously manage budgets and forecasts. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required. In-depth knowledge of marketing and branding required. Strong project management and analytical skills required.
