The Marketing Communications Manager is a key role within the Journals/Library Marketing team. The Marketing Communications manager is responsible for managing the planning, scheduling, development and execution of direct response marketing projects, and may also manage the Marketing Communications team of 2-3 Marketing Associates. This position assumes full ownership of SAGE direct marketing related processes and campaigns to ensure that they are completed accurately, on time, on budget and to ensure that they meet business objectives. This position is also responsible for leading the effort to incorporate best practices and learned key metrics provided by the Marketing Services team. The Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for reviewing current process and procedures and recommending and implementing improvements. The position requires 3+ years proven experience in Marketing Communications, including some combination of experience in marketing planning and management, targeted direct response marketing and analysis, copywriting and creative writing, and personnel management.

The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Create innovative, high-quality email and direct mail campaigns that can be proven effective based on team/department standards.
•Coordinate any freelance needs to cover resourcing for the MarComm team
•Partner with Marketing Managers, Marketing Systems, and Art to identify new marketing communication strategies and tactics
•Manage production of catalogs, brochures, other marketing collateral, emails, and landing pages
•Write engaging content for promotions that support business objectives and adhere to established brand guidelines and voice
•Analyze Marketing Communications direct response activities and recommend improvement
•Place space advertising in both in-house and external publications as assigned
•Master and utilize all marketing databases, including SPIN, ARGI, Salesforce, etc.
•Prepare production files for all non-direct and direct mail jobs
•Master and utilize marketing functionality of the online platform, including free trials/access, banner advertising, usage reporting, etc.
•Work with and communicate (written and verbal) effectively with colleagues in all departments throughout the company worldwide.
•Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
•Travel to sales meetings twice per year is required.

Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:
•B.A. degree, preferably in Journalism, Marketing, Communication, Advertising, English, or a related field.
•3+ years experience in Marketing, Marketing Communications, Copywriting, and/or Advertising.
•Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budget maintenance and problem solving skills
•Ability to lead others and work effectively as a team
•Ability to conduct logical analysis of marketing communication activities
•Knowledge of print and electronic publication process
•Knowledge of Word and Excel, or similar software
•Knowledge of creative and printing processes
