The AOL Mobile Web Engineering team is responsible for creating amazing mobile web experience for AOL brands that work on a range of mobile devices - tablets, smartphones and legacy feature phones using best in class technologies that includes HTML5, CSS3,  Javascript and server side infrastructure/components.  The engineering team supports mobile analytics infrastructure that is integrated with tracking solutions such as Omniture/Flurry, among others, and data warehousing technologies to tracking user engagement on our products.

The Data Engineer will work with analytics, product and engineering teams to support AOL’s mobile analytics infrastructure. The person should be highly motivated, curious and technically savvy with a knack for solving problems. The following are the key responsibilities:

  • Partner with Business team to ensure consistent, well defined internal standards for metric definitions

  • Develop technical and implementation standards for reporting

  • Ensure consistent implementation and Q/A tools

  • Troubleshoot and solve reporting/metrics collection issues across systems and devices

  • Support efforts to enhance self-service tools and data accessibility

  • Partner w/ 3rd parties for establishing industry standards

  • Advise, implement and audit consistent/minimal required metrics standards across entire mobile portfolio

  • Must have hands on experience with developing and working with Java, JEE, JSP, Apache, Tomcat, JavaScript, SQL, Unix, Perl, Shell script and regular expressions

  • Demonstrated 3 to 5 years of experience with data analysis and managing metrics implementations at other companies

  • Familiarity with web analytics solutions such as Omniture, Flurry, Google Analytics is a plus
