The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world's most pressing challenges. CGI membersincluding heads of state, corporate executives, NGO leaders, and celebritiesare encouraged to take action and address critical issues through Commitments to Action (commitments).

As part of the membership team, the Membership Manager oversees all data regarding CGI members, sponsors, and year-round events. S/he is responsible for managing a team of two other professionals, who oversee data input, registration, reporting and analytics. In addition to data management, the Membership Manager is responsible for inter-departmental coordination, process building, and the timing and list building for all outbound member communications and prospect solicitations.

The membership department is responsible for recruitment and retention of the members and sponsors of all CGI events. The team serves as the primary interface between CGI and member/sponsor organizations to coordinate their involvement in CGIs year-round opportunities and events.


Oversee data architecture for all CGI platforms, including but not limited to: CGI Annual Meeting; CGI America; CGI University; and CGI International

Develop and manage sustainable best practices for data usage with respect to:

  • Collection of data for members, sponsors, and prospects

    • Data entry
    • Record keeping
    • Reporting and analytics

  • Manage list building and list management activities for all CGI platforms:

    • Annually update 20,000 existing data records
    • Work with consultant to acquire data for new prospect members
    • Create final invitation lists for all CGI events including analysis of past
      responses to identify individuals to invite and remove unnecessary prospects

  • Manage member communications and outreach calendar:

    • Work with the marketing department to assist in creating
      electronic member communications
    • Coordinate across departments to build outreach schedule for
      member events

  • Work with membership, Commitments and CGI America teams to
    organize recruitment outreach for all CGI platforms:

    • Design coding and query systems to improve Account team workflow
    • Assign new accounts to appropriate Account team and track
      recruitment outreach

  • Oversee updates and support functionality to the CGI member website
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding new interns, consultants and staff
  • Manage a team of two professionals

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in data/list management and possess exceptional organizational skills. S/he will have a high level of quantitative ability, extreme attention to detail, and effective email and phone communication skills. Additionally, s/he will be a self-starter with managerial capacity and the ability to think through problems and identify forward-looking solutions.


  • Bachelors degree.
  • Five to six years of work experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with external list sources and list development, as well as strong quantitative analysis skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High-level of attention to detail, coupled with ability to understand larger organizational needs and build data processes accordingly.
  • Ability to work in high pressure environment and coordinate numerous time sensitive projects.
  • Outstanding organizational and follow-through skills. Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; experience with Raisers Edge and/or Microsoft Dynamics CRM highly preferred.
  • Ability to work long hours in preparation for CGI events.

Physical Requirements

  • May require travel, which may require walking distances, lifting, and carrying luggage and boxes, and prolonged periods of sitting in tight quarters.
  • Significant computer work, which may require repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (> 15 lbs), bending, pulling, collating/filing, and lifting, carrying, and/or moving boxes, files, etc., some of which could be heavy or require the use of carts.
