We are currently seeking an Editor or Senior Editor to be responsible for a wide range of editorial and publishing tasks in the HarperEntertainment, HarperFestival, and other imprints.

Under supervision of the Executive Editor, the Editor/Senior Editor:

1. Acquires, conceptualizes, edits, and works on the general development of licensed tie-ins in a variety of formats including activity books, 8x8s, chapter books, storybooks/scrapbooks, novelizations, board books, novelties, and beginning readers.
2. Interacts closely with licensors, including movie studios and television networks.
3. Conducts competitive research, develops and maintains production schedules, and collaborates closely with design, production, marketing and promotion, legal, and sales departments.
4. Develops original ideas for acquisition and development. The primary focus will be developing original picture book concepts, but on occasion will develop projects for the chapter book and middle grade markets.

- Minimum 5 years of relevant editorial experience to be considered for Senior Editor level, minimum 3 at Editor level; children’s or mass-market publishing experience preferred
- Excellent negotiation skills and strong presentation skills
- Extensive experience reviewing contracts
- A love of television, film and other forms of popular media
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels across the organization
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and set priorities under pressure
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office
- Prior experience partnering and negotiating with licensing partners a plus
