The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the conception and execution of media relations campaigns for the Huffington Post and HuffPost Live -- including communications strategy and tactics, online and off, long-term and rapid response.

The Communications Coordinator will play an integral role in keeping projects on track as the key support to the group, as well as participate in a number of special communications projects catering to diverse consumer audiences. The Communications Coordinator will have access to a fun set of tools, technologies and people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Primary support to the department with an emphasis on project coordination and tracking.
Pitch content and reporters to print, broadcast and online media.
•    Assist with the creation and execution of campaigns for all AOL Huffington Post Media Group properties including all content categories, HuffPost Live and HPMG
mobile applications.
•    Work closely with senior level content executives and editors on messaging, speaking
opportunities, media requests, and more.
•    Generate press materials including releases, press strategies, bios, talking points, media alerts and pitch letters for announcements, product launches and special events.
•    Identifying new sites, bloggers and communities for potential partnerships and trends in the social space through blog research and analysis tools.
•    Develop creative ways to generate interest in HPMG properties, products and community among online social communities and in the press.

QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

•    Education: Bachelor’s degree
•    Experience: 2+ years of public relations/corp comm/media experience
•    Passion for news is a must -- as are flexibility and a sense of humor.
•    Ability to think creatively, approach communications from new angles, and manage both up and down the organization.

Specialized Knowledge / Skills:

Understanding of the digital space; experience within media industry; passion for social media; experience working in highly matrixed organization; experience working with senior executives; strong media relationships; strong organizational skills; experience executing communications strategies; exceptional writing abilities; history of anticipating issues and the skills to be
strategic, proactive and aggressive.
